Mozart Soloist International Competition 2024

1. The Mozart Soloist International Competition  is open to musicians of all nationalities WITHOUT AGE LIMITS. It’s articulated into three categories by instruments:

– Category A: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, French Horn

– Category B: Violin

– Category C: Piano

2.          Each category is structured into three rounds:

2.1 PRELIMINARY round  

programs : 

Category A :  first movement of a Mozart Concerto chosen by the candidate

Category B :  first movement of a Mozart Concerto chosen by the candidate

Category C :  up to 20 minutes, a free choice of one or more pieces among a solo piano repertoire.

 – during the preliminary round candidates exclusively perform for the jury competition, without any public audience participation 

  candidates joining A and B categories will be accompanied by a pianist.

2.2 SEMIFINAL 

Category A :  second movement of the same Mozart Concerto chosen by the candidate at     

                                     the preliminary round. 

Category B :  second movement of the same Mozart Concerto chosen by the candidate at     

                                     the preliminary round. 

Category C :  (up to 25 minutes) a free choice of one or more pieces among the solo piano repertoire,  including one etude among Chopin’s Liszt’s, Rachmaninov’s, Debussy’s, Scriabin’s, Casella’s, Moszkowski’s etudes. 

  • during the semi-final round candidates exclusively perform for the jury competition, without any public audience participation. 

  candidates joining A and B categories will be accompanied by a pianist.

2.3 FINAL Round ( with the orchestra ) 

The final round is a public  and it includes the audience participation. 

Category A : candidates admitted to the final round  must perform the entire Mozart’s 

                       Concerto (all the three movements) with the orchestra, partially performed at 

                       the previous rounds.  

Category B : candidates admitted to the final round  must perform the entire Mozart’s 

                       Concerto (all the three movements) with the orchestra, partially performed at 

                       the previous rounds.  

Category C : candidates admitted to the final round  must perform one entire Mozart’s Piano Concerto (all the three movements) with the orchestra.  

  • C category candidates can freely choose one piano concerto among all Mozart’ piano concertos. 

   The jury committee can discretionally ask to candidates to perform partial movements of 

   the Mozart Concerto even during the Final Round. 

General information: 

PRELIMINARY and SEMIFINAL rounds will be held in the following cities:

New York (USA) from May 22 to 25, 2024 

Florence (Italy) from May 28 to 31, 2024 

Barcelona (Spain) from June 7 to 10, 2024 

Budapest (Hungary) from June 16 to 19, 2024 

The FINAL round with the orchestra will take place in Budapest (Hungary, Europe) 

on June 21,2024.

The final round with the orchestra consists in an evening public concert performance version.

Candidates admitted to the final round must be in Budapest by June 19th , 2024 to be able to attend rehearsals with the orchestra on June 19th and 20th, 2024. The rehearsal schedule will be set up and communicated after the semi-final round .

The minimum score to be admitted to  the Final round is 98/100. 

The Mozart Soloist International Competition organization  provides a collaborative pianist for each required round. Candidates can optionally reserve the collaborative pianist provided  by the competition organization for  €30 fee (€35 by PayPall). Alternatively candidates can independently provide a personal pianist by his/her own choice, in this case the competition organization is exempted from any sort of responsibilities and costs.

  • copy of a valid ID or passport;

– a short resume in PDF ;

The Jury Committee  for the FINAL round is chosen among outstanding artists and leaders 

of the most prestige us musical institutions:

Gergely Kesselyák (Hungary) principal conductor of the Pannon Philharmonic

Stefano Miceli (Italy/USA) pianist and conductor, Music Director New York State Symphony 

Orchestra 

Silvia Careddu (Italy) first flute of the Orchestre National de France

Ognian Draganoff (Bulgaria) Superintendent of the Stara Zagora Opera House

Francesca Lazzaroni (Italy) General director of Amat Accademia Musica Arte Teatro

Elena Casella (Italy) Conductor

The competition organization reserves the eventual possibility to change jury  members for last minute inconveniences.  Any intermedium and final responses of the Jury are unappealable. 

The jury is also in capacity to  to refer those potential candidate for future professional engagements disconnected to the competition awards.

2 concerts in Italy

1 concert in Hungary

Contract with WECHUNGARY agency for 1 year

2nd prize – € 2000

1 concert in Italy

1 concert in Hungary

Contract with WECHUNGARY agency for 1 year

3rd prize – € 1000

1 concert in Italy

Contract with WECHUNGARY agency for 1 year

All prizes in concerts are produced by WECHUNGARY 

5. ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS

Participation to the “Mozart Soloist International Competition 2024” is subject to applicants’ full and unconditional acceptance of the regulations described in this announcement.

6. GENERAL CONDITIONS AND PRIVACY POLICY

In the acceptance of all rules, applicants authorize the organization to make video/audio recording of their competition performances (television, radio, etc.) and they agree   without receiving sort of any compensation a proper use of video audio materials in eventual promotional social media channels, websites, tv and radio.  

Based on  the Article No. 13 of the GDPR 2016/679 (EU General Data Protection Regulation), we inform applicants  that  all personal data provided by the them will be  used for the exclusively purpose of the competition.

7. The Competition organization reserves the right to change the application deadline at any time by giving timely notice through the official website at  www.finziacademy.com.

For any  controversial or disputes related to this announcements  and not regulated by  this announcement the Court of Milan – Italy is considered in charge of justice and final responses to eventual disputes.
